Introduction to IP protection level test
The IP ( INGRESS PROTECTION ) protection level system is drafted by the IEC ( International Electronics Technology Communications ), which classifies electrical appliances according to their dust and moisture resistance characteristics. The foreign objects referred to here include tools, and human fingers must not touch the live parts in the appliance to avoid electric shock. IP protection class is composed of two figures, the first . 1 digit represents the dust collector, to prevent intrusion of foreign material level, the 2 digit represents appliance against moisture, water penetrated closed level, higher numbers mean that the degree of protection high
The protection level is usually expressed by IP followed by two numbers. The numbers are used to specify the protection level.
The first digit indicates the extent to which the equipment is resistant to dust, or the extent to which people are protected from harm in a sealed environment. Represents the level of preventing solid foreign matter from entering, the highest level is 6 ;
The second digit indicates how waterproof the device is. Represents a level to prevent water ingress. The highest level is 8 .
Dust level (the first X indicates)
0 : No protection
1 : Prevent large solids from entering
2 : Prevents intrusion of medium-sized solids
3 : Prevent small solids from entering
4 : Prevent solid objects larger than 1mm from entering
5 : Prevent the accumulation of harmful dust
6 : completely prevent dust from entering
Waterproof level ( indicated by the second X )
0 : No protection
1 : Water droplets have no effect on the shell
2 : When the shell is tilted to 15 degrees, water droplets drip into the shell without effect
3 : Water or rain has no effect from the 60 degree corner to the shell
4 : The liquid is splashed into the shell from any direction without harm.
5 : Rinse with water without any harm
6 : Can be used in the cabin environment
7 : Can withstand water in a short time ( 1m )
8 : Long time immersion in water under a certain pressure
For example: there is a scale or display instrument marked as IP65 , which means that the product can completely prevent dust from entering and can be washed with water without any harm.
