Tanzania Introduction
United Republic of Tanzania (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania) was relocated from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma in 1996. The three East African Community countries, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, proposed a merger in 2010 to form a unified federal state. The federation will have a common constitution, president, parliament and currency.
Tanzania PVOC-COC certification
The Tanzanian National Bureau of Standards (TBS) executive director has issued a formal official confirmation document to implement and enforce this conformity assessment process (PVOC). All regulated products covered by the PVOC process must be inspected, and products must meet Tanzania National Standards and other recognized standards, and a Certificate of Product Compliance (COC) must be issued on this basis. The procedure is scheduled to begin on December 31, 2011.
The Certificate of Conformity (COC) is a necessary document to ensure the smooth clearance of goods. This certificate proves that the product complies with the relevant Tanzanian technical regulations and national, regional and international standards. Failure to submit a certificate of compliance issued by the inspection agency may result in delays in customs clearance or fines or even the return of goods to the exporting country.
Now the goods exported to Tanzania need to apply for COC before export. If the goods arrive at the destination port after December 30, 2011, it is necessary to provide COC customs clearance, otherwise customers may not be able to clear customs smoothly.
Certification Update
According to the latest news from Tanzania, Tanzania will implement the product compliance certification COC from February 1, 2012. The English name: Certificate of Conformity, is a pre-shipment inspection. All products listed in Tanzania's regulated directory need to apply for COC before shipment, otherwise they cannot be cleared at the port of destination.
Unlike the previous Tanzanian shipment inspection, Tanzania COC needs to be applied before shipment. Once the shipment has left the port, COC cannot be supplemented. In addition, Tanzania COC also needs to submit product inspection reports and other documents for document review and approval Arrange pre-shipment inspection and obtain COC certificate
